The Battle of Mabila
The Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto's forces destroyed the fortified Indian village Mabila in present-day Alabama in the United States. Exact death toll is unknown, but contemporary Spanish accounts reported between 2,500 and 3,000 dead Indians. If the numbers are correct, the battle of Mabila is among the bloodiest in American history.
