Dutch Beaumont Mod. 1871/88 (Black Powder Cartridge)

It is a very nice rifle, I see a few 71s and 71/88s during competitions here. I have (and shoot) a Swiss Vetterli 69/71 converted to center-fire, which is of course closer to the Vetterli-Vitali than the Beaumont.

Something that irritates me here in NL is that if a rifle has a magazine system (tube or box type), they never use it!!!! They always just load one at a time. Half the fun of using these old girls is working the action properly...grrrr  The only exception I make is loading pointed ammunition is a tube magazine of course (ala Lebel 1886).

I get astonished looks when I send spent Vetterli casings flying back over my shoulder at the range :-D

Give me iron, steel and wood! Tupperware guns are for losers!
