- Out-of-Stock

Replica of an American right hand butt forward revolver holster that was used by both the Confederate and Federal armies during the American Civil War. Made from high quality leather.
Will fit most .44 and .36 calibre Remington and Colt models, but is too small for the larger Colt Dragoon og Colt Walker revolvers. A perfect companion to the svartkrutt.net pistol cartridge pouch and cap pouch.
During the American Civil War, the sabre was the primary weapon and revolvers were considered secondary. Because of this, original cavalry holsters were made for a left hand draw and the soldiers were instructed to use the revolvers in their left hands. To avoid getting in the way for the sabre, the holsters usually hung on the right side of the soldier with the butt facing forward. Although not quite historically correct for a Civil War cavalryman, right hand holsters are more convenient for today's right-handed shooters that use the revolver as a primary weapon.
