The Battle of Balaclava
The battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War was fought between the British, French and Turkish forces on one side and Russia on the other. The battle was part of the siege of the key Russian naval base Sebastopol in the Black Sea.

During the battle the Britisk used P-1851 muskets and smoothbore Model 1842 percussion muskets. The term "The Thin Red Line" is derived from the Battle of Balaclava, referring to the formation that was made famous by the 93rd Highlanders who met the Russian cavalry with a thin linear formation and a hail of musket balls.
